New Energy are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to join our team at the Ruakākā Solar Farm.
With construction already well underway, this role provides an opportunity to step into a significant renewable energy project and lead the onsite delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will be the senior HSE representative on the project, providing leadership and guidance to a team of HSE Leads while partnering closely with Project Managers, Supervisors and Construction Teams to ensure work is completed safely, responsibly and in compliance with project requirements.
This is a hands-on, site-based leadership position focused on supporting project delivery through strong HSE leadership, practical risk management and continuous improvement.
Job Description
What You'll Do
Leading day-to-day HSE activities across the project.
Providing leadership, coaching and direction to a team of HSE Leads.
Supporting operational teams with hazard identification, risk assessment and critical risk management.
Driving workforce engagement and positive safety behaviours.
Leading incident investigations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Conducting audits, inspections and assurance activities.
Monitoring project HSE performance and reporting trends and opportunities.
Supporting environmental compliance and project obligations.
Building strong relationships with client representatives, contractors and project stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
What You'll Bring to the Role
You will be an experienced HSE professional who enjoys being visible in the field and influencing positive outcomes through collaboration and leadership.
To be successful you will have:
Previous experience in a senior HSE role within construction, civil, infrastructure, energy or industrial projects.
Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating site-based HSE personnel.
Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
Proven incident investigation and risk management experience.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to influence and build credibility with workers, supervisors and management alike.
A practical, solutions-focused approach.
