Job Description
The Senior Supervisor leads and supports on-site teams to achieve daily targets safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, ensuring projects are delivered On Time, In Full, and In Specification (OTIFIS). This role combines on-the-ground leadership, technical oversight, Standard Operating Procedure compliance, and proactive planning to drive team performance, resolve issues, and keep the project moving.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and mentor Team Leaders to meet daily targets safely and to quality standards.
Report progress, rework, and issues promptly to management.
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE use, SOPs, and company policies.
Assess team skills, identify training needs, and support continuous improvement.
Collaborate with project management to plan and achieve goals.
Provide technical guidance and operate machinery within competence and licensing.
Promote teamwork, professionalism, and clear communication.
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety standards and promptly reporting hazards.
Comply with timekeeping and leave procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience
Relevant trade qualification and proven leadership with team management experience.
Advanced subject expert with 5+ years’ hands-on experience operating piling machines and or heavy machinery (excavators, trenchers, skid steers, forklifts).
Skilled in reading and interpreting construction plans and schedules.
Strong leadership, communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
Sound knowledge of health and safety best practices.
High flexibility to travel up to 90–100% when working on non-local projects (required).
Full NZ Driver’s License (Class 1 minimum; Class 2 required for heavy machinery operation).
Additional certifications (renewable energy construction, elevated work platforms, working at height) are advantageous but not essential.
