Join New Energy to support construction of the Tauhei Solar Farm. Full-time, fixed-term role starting July/August, varying terms of up to 4 months.

Job Description

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and working alongside a crew of General Hands and Operators to ensure daily targets are met safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role involves task allocation, on-the-tools leadership, quality monitoring, daily reporting, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and project requirements.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Lead and work alongside team to meet daily targets safely, efficiently, and to high quality
  • Motivate team, allocate tasks, and support skills development and cross-training
  • Monitor quality, ensure compliance with SOPs, specifications, and checklists
  • Communicate progress, issues, and safety concerns promptly 
  • Operate machinery and use construction tools as required within competence and licensing 
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensure proper PPE use, and report hazards or near misses
  • Collaborate professionally with team members, contractors, and management

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Approachable, positive, and team-oriented
  • Reliable, punctual, and physically fit for manual tasks
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Full NZ Driver License (Class 1; Class 2 required for machinery operation)
  • Practical problem-solving skills and solid health & safety awareness
  • Comfortable using construction tools and machinery within your capability and licensing

Additional tickets (e.g. WTR, forklift, first aid, unit standards) and trade or machinery experience are a bonus but not essential.
