New Energy is growing its electrical team, and we’re looking for an experienced Electrical Senior Supervisor to lead the delivery of electrical installation and reticulation works across our utility-scale solar projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll coordinate electrical crews and subcontractors, drive safe and efficient site delivery, and help deliver the electrical infrastructure powering New Zealand’s renewable energy future.

Job Description

Working closely with the Electrical Project Managers, you’ll oversee day-to-day electrical activities on our project sites, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required programme, quality and technical standards. Based at our project sites, this role involves travel and periods away from home, depending on the project location.

What You'll Do

  • Leading electrical crews, Team Leaders and subcontractors to deliver installation works safely and efficiently.
  • Supervising DC, LVAC, communications, fibre, earthing and MV/HV cable installation and reticulation.
  • Coordinating cable pulling, cable management, terminations, connections and electrical testing.
  • Interpreting electrical drawings, cable schedules, specifications and installation requirements.
  • Planning daily work fronts, coordinating labour and materials, and monitoring progress against programme.
  • Identifying and resolving installation defects, technical issues and quality non-conformances.
  • Coordinating inspections, quality records, commissioning support, defect rectification and project handover.
  • Maintaining high standards of electrical safety, isolation, Permit to Work and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Providing practical technical guidance and mentoring to electrical personnel.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

You’re a practical, solutions-focused electrical professional with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to lead crews on a busy construction site. You take pride in quality workmanship, communicate well with others and know how to keep work moving without compromising safety.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Must have EWRB registration and current practicing license.
  • Relevant electrical trade qualifications and demonstrated electrical installation and reticulation experience.
  • Experience with cable installation, terminations, earthing and electrical testing.
  • Proven experience leading electrical crews, Team Leaders or subcontractors.
  • The ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and cable schedules.
  • A strong understanding of electrical safety, quality requirements and New Zealand electrical standards.
  • A current full New Zealand driver's license (Class 1).
  • A current First Aid certificate.
