About the Role
As an Industrial Painter / Blaster, you will play a key role in supporting Drillco's drilling and civil operations by delivering high-quality surface preparation and coating across plant, equipment, and infrastructure. Working across active project sites, this role is responsible for ensuring assets are protected, maintained, and compliant with project and safety standards. While painting and blasting are the core functions, the role is embedded within site operations and contributes to the wider efficiency of drilling and civil works.

Duties:

  • Carry out surface preparation including cleaning, sanding, water blasting, and abrasive blasting
  • Apply industrial coatings using spray systems, rollers, and brushes
  • Mix and prepare paints and coatings to specification
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality finishes that meet durability and compliance standards
  • Conduct touch-ups, maintenance painting, and repainting of plant and infrastructure
  • Operate and maintain abrasive blasting and spray-painting equipment safely and efficiently
  • Set up, maintain, and clean painting and blasting equipment
  • Monitor coating quality, thickness, and finish standards
  • Work alongside drilling and civil crews to support day-to-day site activities
  • Assist with equipment setup, pack-down, and general site duties as required
  • Support hydrovac, water blasting, or fluid management activities where needed
  • Operate site vehicles and machinery such as forklifts, trucks, and rollers where appropriately licensed
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of materials and equipment

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial and/or commercial painting
  • Experience in surface preparation and/or industrial coating application
  • Experience operating spray-painting and/or abrasive blasting equipment 
  • Experience operating hydrovac, heavy rigid trucks, and/or mobile plant
  • NZ Driver Licence Class 1, 2 and 4 (required) 
  • WTR endorsements (required)
